Ray Garrett Jr, SEC Chairman, Beloved by his Family and Friends

Ray Garrett, Jr., former chairman of the SEC, who died at his Second Saturn Return, in 1980, is pictured in the center. He was my beloved father. A Leo. He was the 19th chairman. Here is a website in his honor.
June 25, 2009, family and friends of Ray Garrett will gather in Washington, D. C. fot the Celebration Dinner for the 75th Anniversary of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), hosted by the Commission's Historical Society. Ray Garrett was the emcee for the 25th, and 45th of these historical moments. The museum, archive and the Society are independent of and separate from the SEC and receive no federal funding.

His daughter, my sister, Nancy Worcester, worked harding getting the preliminaries for this grand occasion in place. First things first - the donations. Here she is mailing off the checks via FedEx.

)Below) This is the gorgeous building where the event will take place. If you are reading this, and are a friend or admirer or Ray Garrett Jr. and would like to attend, or make a contribute (we are currently seeking $1,500 more, to allow for a half-page tributary for him in the Program) please email me - sdunn@susandunn.cc - and let me know. We have extra seats available, and we didn't mean to leave you out.

Saturn Returns ... and Saturn Returns ... and Saturn Returns

SATURN RETURNS NOW PLAYING AT THE LINCOLN THEATER

Perfect timing for us all, as Saturn opposes Uranus; perfect timing for us all, as we will all have Saturn Returns.

Saturn Returns take place roughly every 30 years in our life - at 28-30, 58-60, and 88-90. A Saturn Return presents you with an opportunity for a second chance, third chance at life. It's about growing up (Saturn) and also about growing.

The play Saturn Returns is written by Noah Haidle. In the off-Broadway play, 70 minutes without an intermission, one man, Gustin (played by 3 different actors), takes a look at his life and the three women in it.

Interestingly, another play on the same astrological theme, called Saturn's Return (See To Have and to Hold Onto Forever - It's the Siren Call from Planet Possibility) written by Tommy Murphy played in Sydney, Australia this summer. Lisa Pryor writes:

Murphy describes Saturn's Return as a crisis of confidence and identity, as you reach an age where you are "asked to lock some things in and it tests some decisions and choices you have made...I was interested in the notion of a more authentic person emerging after this process of upheaval and the consolidation of adulthood."

What to expect from a Saturn Return? Changes. Decisions. Lessons Saturn is trying to teach you. For more on this, I defer to my esteemed colleague, astrologer Nancy Fenn. You simply MUST get a Saturn Return Reading from her - first, second, or third. Nancy Fenn is the nation's Saturn Return Expert. Nancy Fenn was chosen SATURN RETURN EXPERT for the gigantic self growth community served by SELF GROWTH, the #1 Self Improvement Site On The Web, as Ranked by Google and Yahoo!

Says Nancy Fenn:

Many people are confused about the Saturn Return. Maturity is no protection. It's about choosing your real life instead of the one you thought was yours....If you have been pursuing a career or lifestyle to please someone else, there is a sense of urgency at the Saturn Return to make important changes."

The band Tool also wrote a song called Saturn's Return which you can see below.

LYRICS

Saturn comes back around. Lifts you up like a child or
Drags you down like a stone
To consume you till you choose to let this go.

Give away the stone.
Let the oceans take and transmutate this cold and fated anchor.
Give away the stone.
Let the waters kiss and transmutate these leaden grudges into gold.
Let go.

What's it all about? If you are approaching one of your Saturn Returns, contact Nancy Fenn.

James Watson, Nobel Prize (and Saturn Return)

James Watson, former Nobel Prize winner, currently under heavy fire for his allegedly "racist" comments, is 79 years old. He was born in 1928. He has therefore completed two Saturn Returns.

"Known for loving controversy," wrote one account ...

James Watson is promoting his book, "Avoid Boring People." On his path, he eschews "the boring," and certainly has walked right into his beloved controversy on this one.

At his first Saturn Return (1958), Watson was working with Crick, and Wilkins and the three were later awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine (in 1962) for their research on the structure of nucleic acids. There was controversy regarding this - you can read about it just about anywhere, including on wikipedia.com.

In 1968, Watson wrote The Double Helix, one of the Modern Library's 100 best non-fiction books. He almost named it "Honest Jim" (see the theme here?) and it is described as "the sometimes painful story of not only the discovery of the structure of DNA, but the personalities, conflicts and controversy surrounding their work."

According to wik, Harvard University Press was to publish the book, and then declined and it was published by a commercial publisher, "an incident which caused some scandal."

At his second Saturn Return, in 1988, Watson was appointed Head of the Human Genome Project at the National Institutes of Health and this too involved controversy. According to wik,

He left "after conflicts with the new NIH Director. "Watson was opposed to Healy's attempts to acquire patents on gene sequences, and any ownership of the 'laws of nature.'"

Two years before stepping down from the Genome Project, he had stated his opinion on this long and ongoing controversy which he saw as an illogical barrier to research; he said, "The nations of the world must see that the human genome belongs to the world's people, as opposed to its nations." He left within weeks of the 1992 announcement that the NIH would be applying for patents on brain-specific cDNAs."

This is a man who has had great scientific achievements and contributions, both earned and awarded, amidst controversy.

We will take a look at his chart shortly to see what drives this man, and what the third Saturn Return might bring.

David Hasselhoff (Cancer) in Trouble Again

David Hasselhoff is in trouble again, in a way that many Cancers get in trouble. He was admitted to a hospital yesterday for detox. He is a Cancer, born July 17, 1952 and this is a problem to many Cancers.

There are elements in David Hasselhoff's chart that would indicate these problem areas.

David Hasselhoff has a predominance of WATER signs, meaning that he is extremely sensitive, drive by heart and emotions. According to astrotheme, he "can't do anything on this Earth if [he doesn't] feel an affective charge (as a matter of fact the word 'feeling' is essential to [his] psychology. Action and comprehension cannot be achieved if [he doesn't] feel anything ..."

Therefore numbing his FEELINGS with alcohol is highly detrimental.

FIRE is dominant in his chart giving the propensity for rashness and impulsive behavior, while
EARTH qualities are extremely low (about 5% instead of 25%). This puts him in the heart and mind, instead of material, earthly and concrete values. A person with these elements can easily end up in trouble due to lack of good sense and carefulness.

What's the key? We are never 'bound' by our charts because we have free will. Our charts can indicate strengths and weakness, and there is always the possiblity of evolving and of transformation.

As David (now 55) lurches toward his second Saturn Return, we can only hope he learns to manage his sensitive and enthusiastic nature in ways that are not harmful to him. As Nancy Fenn, the nation's Saturn Return expert puts it: "Your second Saturn Return (between the ages of 58-60) is when, secretly and truly, for good or ill, every single one of your chicken’s for the last thirty years come home to roost.”

You can request a mini-reading from Fenn here: www.bemyastrologer.com/form.html . Please indicate you found this offer on Semiramis' blog.

Our thoughts and prayers are with David Hasselhoff as he struggles with his addiction.
