New Moon in Cancer - Family. Take Care of You. Wellness.

"A Safer Place" by Fenerty

Are you watching the moon now? It won't be long.

The coming Full Moon will be in Cancer, making us more aweare about nurturing. This means you too, sweetie!

Now some astrologers are seeing this as "the ideal time to pursue your existing health and fitness goals ... or to get inspired and create new ones for yourself." (Jeff Jawer)

Since I also work in a field called emotional intelligence, I jump to the essence of Cancer (to me) - the home, the family; and the bottom line on wellness: not being isolated. Studies show that isolation ("not being emotionally connected to others"), is worse on our health than high blood pressure, obesity and smoking, perhaps even combined.

Considering that the Sun's beneficent angle to Uranus will MAKE CHANGE EASIER (at last!), I see this as the big go-ahead to change/create/re-create your "Family."

Change + family =

  • Maybe you need another boyfriend

  • Maybe you need to divorce

  • Time to pop the question to that gal you know is the Right One

  • Maybe you should move to be closer to family

  • Time to adopt a child?

  • Time to get pregnant?
  • Maybe you should tell him to quit wasting your time
  • Time for you to start dating for real?

  • Maybe the conflicts within your own family have reached critical mass and it's time for you to go get another family, one that works for you

You've got thrust for wellness right now with the Sun in a harmonious angle to Uranus. It's easier to make changes, and also to envision changes, which is the beginning of being able to do it. Probably with the Pluto transit you've been considering a lot of changes. Well, there's not time like NOW.

Nurture yourself with a reading. Let me guide you on your path and show you how to use this great energy right now. Email me at sdunn@susandunn.cc .

If you are really into increasing your ability to connect, I recommend The EQ Course(tm). It teaches you about emotions - how they work, how to make them work for you, what the information they give you is all about,. EQ is for Emotional Intelligence. High emotional intelligence adds to your success. Remember, as my friend and fellow reader Leighton says, "The stars impel. They do not compel." The part that you can influence, is best managed with emotional intelligence.

The Uranus Pluto Poster Child

IMAGES FOR THE TIME

It's probably been at least half a century since Uranus and Pluto made this configuration at the same time.

If you're feeling massive upheaval, you aren't alone. So is your neighbor, so is the US, so is the world.

I call it whiplash. Others call it getting slammed. There's a sense that what's over is over, you may have hit a rock you can't figure out ... and everyone's a little scattered and maybe swearing more than usual.

I was interviewed today by a reporter from a national news source. The reporter wanted to know how people were adjusting to "the economic crisis" and how it was affecting, among other things, their Thanksgivings. She wanted me to to send people to her who would be willing to be interviewed about the changes in their plans. I didn't ask any clients - that's confidential, but I was out doing errands and I mentioned it to several people. I chose ones who seemed outgoing. Everyone clammed up. No one wanted to talk about "it."

What is "it"? Well "it" isn't just Thanksgiving.

It's that things are changing, big things, and we can feel it. I told the reporter we would be taking a new look at our relationship to money. For instance, does it matter how much you spend, or don't spend for Thanksgiving. Isn't it about getting together with loved ones, and feeling gratitude for what you DO have (not being upset about what you DON'T have.) Of course this is easier when you're 'forced' to cook your own Thanksgiving meal rather than the usual catering ... v. someone who is so close to the line, it's becoming precarious.

I talked to one man today who must fire 7 people tomorrow. "The day before Thanksgiving," he mused, and shook his head.

But just so we don't get off the deep end on this, let me give you some of the Pluto Uranus POSTER CHILDREN:

F has lost about as much, financially, as a person can lose. Her job, license, a lawsuit about a debt, and the ability to continue in her formerly lucrative profession. What did she do? She ordered her Spiritual Life Path Report. She tells me it showed her The Path. She tells me her kids are doing great. She says she's never had to live without money, and the divorce is proceeding, but that she guesses she'll be learning how. I think Sag is giving her the Spirit.

I told S to get her retirement fund out of the stock market about 2 months ago. She did. She asked someone to go on a cruise with her, a nice cheap one (she's being frugal and doing the math), and they declined. For the third time. Then she asked someone else - in another direction - who was THRILLED to go with her. "It opened my eyes," she said. "Now I will go where I'm wanted and welcomed." She's getting ready to quit her job and move to another state, to be with people who say "Come as soon as possible. We will all help you find a job." Big CHANGE of scene, and attitude. New Life.

M has been struggling with chronic pain from undisclosed source for nearly two years, visiting doctor after practitioner. During this transit she finally found The Healer. Her voice is coming back, and this is symbolic. There's a new man in her life, who looks like The One, and she is open to it. Her whole life, she says, is about to change. P.S. She's laying the groundwork to move as well.

J had a long and tortured relationship from afar with a woman he met online and visited once. She loved him at first sight. He had to go back and divorce his wife, who had left. To settle his professional practice. To deal with a chronic physical condition. He dangled the woman on a string for 4 years, saying it was this and that, but now he writes me, "finally I have changed." He is recontacting the woman in earnest, and she is slowly beginning to respond. Is this True Love? If it is, it was hard won. "God," he wrote me, quoting Ghandi, "sometimes does try to the uttermost those whom he wishes to bless."

Out of the darkness, we will find the light at the end of the tunnel. And our collissions will all be elastic collisions.

Elastic collisions is a physics term meaning - think of two identical steel balls colliding. Since the collision is perfectly elastic, the identical balls come together with the same speed, and depart one another in the opposite directions with exactly the same velocities. No harm done! Off we go. So be it with any adversities you think you are encountering.

With time, it will all work out. This is a fantastic energy and time to make a huge leap forward.

The Creation of Acadia National Park, a Plutonian Tale

Bar Harbor Maine
Acadia National Forest - a Plutonian Tale

The story of Acadia National Forest is a Plutonian Tale. Pluto, the god of the underworld. The only god to whom there was no altar, no recourse, no prayer, no mercy. It is all-out war between the Old and the New. It is going on now (the election, the world economic crisis), as Pluto stomps through your life (or the world's, or a forest's), trampling what is dead and dying making room for new growth - more beautiful, more varied, more enriched, and most of all -- changed.

This is also the theme for the coming year, 2009. Whether you orchestrate your own change, gracefully emerging from your chrysalis a beautiful winged butterfly, or must be dragged out unwillingly, kicking and scream is up to you. Readings, of course, will help, as this isn't easy. EMAIL ME to schedule readings.

And now for Acadia National Forest. . .

"Rustification" it was called, when the very wealthy came to Bar Harbor Maine and Maine's Mount Desert Island, a little under 200 air miles Boston, to spend their summers. One of these was the philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who contributed along with many other people (including the tens of thousands of volunteers who care for it today), to developing and preserving Acadia National Park.

At 47,000 acres, Acadia National Park it's one of our smallest, yet one of the most visited. From these photos, you will see why.

MAP OF ACADIA NATIONAL FOREST
From our cruise to Bar Harbor (and beyond)

Map of Acadia, Map created by en:User:Aude

At first, the forest looked like this (evergreens), though it included the granite ledges of the Schoodic Peninsula across Frenchman Bay, and a number of smaller offshore islands, notably Isle au Haut in the Gulf of Maine. But Mount Desert is where most of it is. It contained more than 20 lakes and ponds, and an extensive network of gravel carriage trails, 17 granite bridges, and two gate lodges, thanks to the Rockefellers, most of which is there today.

Here is what it looked like back then:

Or perhaps even a tree of color here and there, like this:

THE GREAT MAINE FIRE OF 1947

Then, on October 17, 1847 a fire broke out, during a dry year, that destroyed much of Maine's forests, including 10,000 acres of Acadia National Park. Now here's the miracle. As is nature's way, the regrowth, allowed to occur naturally, included a host of maples and other colored trees, changing the appearance entirely, and for the better, most of us would say.

If you have gone through a Plutonian change, a "Trial by Fire" and find yourself to be, shall we say, more colorful, more enriched, more beautiful, you can relate to this, for this is what we see today, "after the great fire."

Our trip to Bar Harbor included a tour of the Acadia National Forest, ending in a lobster bake at Bar Harbor Inn.

One of the bridges built by Rockefeller.

Having grown up in the Mid West, the sights and scents and sounds of fall are manna to my soul.

All hail the Maine Lobster!

While on my New England/Canada Fall Foliage Cruise on NCL's the Norwegian Majesty, I planned my changes for the coming year. They will be big ones. And I planned ways to help my clients on their journey during 2009.
It was good to be on a cruise for this. "I must get down to the sea again..."
It was spectacular success. Next time we visit Saint John, Bay of Fundy. Stay tuned.

From Molly Hall:

Astrology is an ancient study that is re-emerging into the culture as a force to be reckoned with. The study of the light energies within yourself, and the universe, can remind us that we're part of something awe-inspiring. The patterns that astrology reveals can help you understand yourself and others. Astrological wisdom helps you make the most of your life, and put the darkness or trials into perspective

As Pluto enters Capricorn, oh the things we will have to deal with. Typical of this time period, from reknown psychic Nancy Fenn:

On Monday, the US Treasury Secretary, Henry Paulson unveiled his plans to modernise the way that financial markets are policed. Mr Paulson's proposals, which he said would "require a great deal of discussion and take many years to complete", represent the biggest shake up of the financial regulatory system since the Great Depression.
