Chart of Dr. James Watson, Aries (and more)

Dr. James Watson was born April 6, 1928 in Chicago (IL) (USA)
Aries 16°15 AS Capricorn 14°13.

Let's take a brief look at his chart. You won't find much surprise - if you're suspecting Aries, some Leo, some Libra and, oh yes, Sag. Zing@

You will not be surprised to know that Dr, James Watson, previous Nobel prize winner, is an Aries. Who else would … say something like that, while also contributing so much. He has the strong personality which will not back off, the entrepreneurial spirit, ambition and stubbornness of the Aries. Ramming his head! And along with this, the impulsiveness and desire to provoke.

If you read his bio, anywhere, and also on wikipedia.com you will see the word controversy occuring quite a bit.

What contributes to this? Well, -114 Square Sun – Pluto, he likes to fight, and there will be fights. He can also be presumptuous. Not so much about his intellect, as what is there to be presume? but about what others want to know, can know, and are willing to know. His greatest presumption is that people are curious and able to be objective about scientific findings, like he is. NOT.

The 149 Trine Moon – Mars also makes him frank, and with the impulsiveness, he does not always take the time to explain things at length, especially when they are 'obvious' to him. In other words, he does not take the time to think through how what he says MIGHT be construed, and how he wants to say what he says.

There are numerous placements in his chart that predict his intellect and abilities, especially in the higher reaches of science, and the ability to have a strong influence on others.

With 762 Conjunction Sun – Jupiter, his professional success was predictable, and he is tolerant, optimistic and kindly, attributes which would further his career if used well. This may also temper the Triune Sun – Saturn, which means he likes to work quietly and alone. He pays attention to detail, is serious and methodical about his work, patient with the most arduous tasks, and will take on the impossible intellectual task, dotting every 'i' and crossing every 't.' He would be in the lab long after others fatigued, frustrated-out and left.

Moon in Libra indicates that he is sociable, popular, intelligent, reasonable, and of sound judgment. Notice that a phrase he often uses is "powers of reason."

When he takes the time to think about what he is going to say, he replies, at any rate he is quoted in The Independent as clarifying his comments as follows:

"The overwhelming desire of society today is to assume that equal powers of reason are a universal heritage of humanity. It may well be. But simply wanting this to be the case is not enough. This is not science. To question this is not to give in to racism. This is not a discussion about superiority or inferiority, it is about seeking to understand differences, about why some of us are great musicians and others great engineers."

Uranus in Aries -- independent, thinks on his own, inventive, and progressive.

If you read his book, “Avoid Boring People,” you will read some of the difficulties of his childhood, presaged by Ascendant in Capricorn – his success was destined to come with maturity and old age, preceded by a slow rise and a life of study.
