Wearing a Hair Shirt

To wear a hair shirt, literally, used to be an act of penance. It has come to mean feeling guilty about something, and also not being able to let go of something. They were also called calice, and could be very painful to wear.

I've found it often has to do with karma. If you'd like me to take a look at your chart in regards to things you just know you're over-reacting to, or vaguely disturbed by, let me know.

When jailed, he started singing this song. One of the policeman heard it, told Holden he (the policeman) was leaving police work and going to form a band, and gave Holden his card.**

Pluto marches on - inexorably

How to get through the next two weeks

I can't impress upon you what a tedious time this is. Some might even say dangerous - in terms of pressing issues, relationships, matters at work.

The people around you don't know the answer because they don't even know the questions. Pressing any issue now is disastrous. Get busy with your own sweet things - nature, a psychic reading, a walk with the dog, a massage, helping someone who needs help (don't ask, just do it - go to the store for them, listen, solve a small problem for them, make them laugh). Be around the few Evolved Old Souls out there who walk around with sweet smiles on their calm faces.

There's one I know who is only 25. Theyare everywhere is you look.

Probable outcomes of pressuring people now are that they will default (yield to their internal irritability and take the course of lease resistance) - fire you, ask for a divorce, end the dating relationship, cancel the contract, refuse the loan, demote you, cancel your leasem end the friendship, say something very difficult to forgive ...

Aquarius and Leo? Can there be love.

Is anyone home??

Can you tell me what to do? I'm a Leo and I fell in love with an Aquarius. It has turned out to cause me more tears than any romance I've been in, yet he keeps pulling me back into it. He will occasionally say the things I like and need to hear, and then he becomes totally distant. I'm so confused. He tells me all the time (he's a doctor) how important it is to LISTEN to people (his patients), but he sure doesn't listen to ME. He can be so cold I can't believe it. Once in the middle of a state-of-the-art relationship talk, he took a phone call. Sometimes he'll go weeks without getting together with me. What am I doing wrong? Is this just a bad match? I can't figure out what attracted me to him in the first place. --Saneetra

The trouble with this pairing is that the two signs have definitions of LOVE that are almost diametrically opposed.

Aquarian, despite being thought to be the lovers of people, are not so demonstrative about a person in general. They are always at a distance, without sentimental committment.

The Leo needs lots of romanticism and sentiment, and rarely does a Aquarius fit the bill. They start strong (what man doesn't) and then, it's off to IMPORTANT things, generally Aquarian, like saving the world, taking care of "people", climbing mountains, anything but the woman they're with.

It's possible for some Leos and Aquarians to function, but it's more like "function," if you know what I mean. Aquarians are intellectuals, not very interested in their emotional side. They often think it "silly." I remember counseling one Aquarian that he needed to work on his emotional intelligence, and he said, laughing, "you can't be emotional AND be intelligent." Uh oh.

The only saving grace is if the Aquarian understands the Leo pride. To be ignored is not going to work with a Leo.

I'd look elsewhere. He's drawn to you for what he's missing, but he can't connect to it.

Spring has sprung, astrologically speaking

The new astrological year has begun - March 20th was the date. This is the Spring Equinox, when night and day are equal. What a great time for a rebirth and for a reading.

Almost every culture on earth celebrates at this time of year - when the sap starts to rise, flowers peep up from the snow, animals come out of hibernation -- is that YOU? Spitzer and Hubris - is it in his chart?

Some of this could have been seen from Spitzer's chart. There is also the effect of the Mars/Pluto. This is the classic time for karma and self-sabotage.

The only way you can exercise free will is if you are aware of what's going on, and what's in your chart that's likely to trip you up. There is always free will.

March 7th 2008 - like the movie, "No Country for Old Men,", There are no clean getaways ... you can't stop what's coming...
MARCH 7TH, Mars opposes Pluto at World Points.

Combination of Mars/Puto is full of extreme force, coercion, excessive (fruitless, harmful) effort, and, at its worst, brutality and ruthlessness.

Apply this to all relationships - from your own personal ones to relations between nations.

Last occurrence of this opposition was in April of 06. Look back to then for hints of what is coming. That opposition was in Gemini/Sagitarrius (Mutable). This one will be Cardinal - a different energy. Changeable v. Initiating (or completing). The same issues as back them will resurface.

The anger in your chart (get rid of it and live)

Anger is a necessary emotion. It gives us information. Whether it is frustration, annoyance, rage, righteous indignation or fury, it lets us know that we have been harmed or wronged. This is a sort of flaming anger, and the color is yellow or red. But there is a deeper sort of anger. The color is blue, and remember that’s the hottest flame, but also the color of frozen ice. The deepest level of Dante’s hell, in fact was frozen.

The theologican Frederick Buechner wrote: “Of the Seven Deadly Sins, anger is possibly the most fun. To lick your wounds, to smack your lips over grievances long past, to roll over your tongue the prospect of bitter confrontations still to come, to savor to the last toothsome morsel both the pain you are given and the pain you are giving back — in many ways it is a feast fit for a king. The chief drawback is that what you are wolfing down is yourself. The skeleton at the feast is you.”

There’s also a saying that “revenge is a dish best served cold.” If this is “making your blood run cold,” there’s a reason. Bitterness and resentment freeze you. It’s a form of slow death.

If we don’t manage our anger as it occurs, repressing it or suppressing it, or expressing it in wrong ways, we harm ourselves and we harm others. It can build up and take us over, even if we aren’t aware of. Anger turned inward is one definition of depression. Another is hostility, cynicism and rigidity. Anger that can’t flow becomes dammed up and our Inner Wisdom expresses it through flash outbursts, indigestion, migraines, aches and pains, high blood pressure, exhaustion or low-grade incipient bad health. You simply never feel good, and that is a living hell. Anger, both alive and buried, has been linked to most diseases, especially heart attacks.

There has to be some healthy outlet for all this, and we all have had our reasons for anger and resentment. I’ve never talked to a client who didn’t. Whether it’s the man who used you, the promotion that went to someone else, the chance you never had to go to college, years of service to children who ignore or abuse you, the book that never got published, or your inheritance that was promised to you and went to someone else … these things linger if not addressed properly and can turn us into bitter people. Bitter and brittle.

How you talk to yourself about these things is important. The 12-steppers say, “It isn’t what’s happening to me, it’s how I’m taking it.” You have a story to tell, that you must tell, and let’s say you can write a different ending. It helps very much to tell your story to someone else too, but the right person. They can give you perspective and help you make sense out of what has happened. More importantly, it frees up energy for the rest of your beautiful journey. Telling your story to the right person who knows about this sort of thing can be freeing.

Whatever your story is, it isn’t over, and if you will delve into this you will find love all around. As a counselor, coach and astrologer, I like to help clients see the karma behind all this. There are patterns but it’s important to realize that while there is karma, there is also always free will.

What you inherited from past lives, or your nuclear family needs to be addressed in a caring way so that you can move on to the life you deserve and love.

It can be a close inheritance – a family where conflict, aggression and competition were more important than love and acceptance. The charts of these people show Aries influence. It can be a spouse that abused you and left you poisoned for all relationships. Those charts feature Scorpio. It can be your grandmother’s treatment of your mother than she unconsciously passed on to you, a Neptunian issue. It can be the death of your child that left your heart frozen, an afflicted Leo chart.

One of the most important things you can do for yourself – and for YOUR children – is to end these old patterns, family inheritances and bad karma. An excellent book about this is Erin Sullivan’s “Family Patterns”.

So open your heart again to a new world. When you work with a psychic and astrologer, you can understand the nature of what you have inherited – both the curses and the blessings – and see how they work and don’t work in your life.

If you ever caught yourself doing something you hate and said, “That’s just what my mother used to do,” this is for you. But it is often more buried and subtle than this and your chart and the cards can pull out the essence for you, so you can get to the bottom of it. It is a relief.

Recall again that anger burns and is active, while resentment festers and eats you up. If you’ve come to the point where you realize nothing has worked in getting rid of your bad moods and depression, it’s time to UN-depress all this karma, bring it out into the light, let the energy move – and move ON. Anger motivates because it tells us something is wrong. Then, if we have labeled it correctly, we have the chance to take ACTION to rectify the situation, but most of all, we have energy to get on with our life. This works for old things, clearing the slate, giving you a second chance, and freeing you from the karma.

Sometimes it’s as simple as realizing — really “getting” — that you are experiencing things you did to others in former lifetimes so you can learn and move on.

Some of this you can work through with those who are still present. It is also possible to continue relationships with those who have crossed to the other plane. Let your psychic advisor guide you in ways to do this with love. The answer is not to spread more hate and anger, but to open yourself to love.

In other cases, the keys lie in your astrological chart. If you feel you can no longer go on as things are, it’s time to pull things out of the deep freeze, thaw them out and give yourself back your life. If you suppress one emotion, you suppress them all. Until you can deal gracefully with the hurts and pains, allowing the tears to flow, and the grief to come forward, you cannot experience joy, pleasure and happiness.

Look before you leap

This Mars Retrograde with companion Jupiter continues to make things more complex and difficult than they should be - or are. Jupiter magnifies everything. This is a time when we really need to have PERSPECTIVE on what's going on and the cards know.

Special message for Leos -- set your pride aside for now and do what you need to do, calmly and with the magnanimous spirit for which you are known. It isn't you -- it's them -- but you are the one to keep the situation from escalating. Manage your own sense of discouragement now about all those 'cubs' who should be listening to you and aren't. You're very busy, king of the jungle, and they aren't listening. Oh my!

Full Moon - Will it Make Your Crazy?

Call of the Sea, in Sausalito is having a Full Moon Sail the night of October 26th. Some people plan cruises for full moons. There's just something about a Full Moon. Some people get romantic. Other people get crazy!!

Astrologically Full Moons are important times. They can be a time of clarity - like "by the light of the moon" or claire de lune implicates. But then, of course too, our word "lunacy" also comes from the moon (luna).
